Dr. Sarcofiguy is one brilliant and funny soul. You will enjoy bad movies unlike ever before, thanks to his unique and twisted insight.
As a person who not only believes in bad moves, but seeks them out intentionally, it is hard to imagine that I would find myself enjoying a book that not only claims that there is no such thing as a bad film, but that the blame for anything resembling as much rests on my shoulders. But Dr. Sarcofiguy preaches a cinematic gospel that is hard to argue with, and the majority of his reasoning is sound. His advice to all of the movie fans (like me) who find themselves nitpicking small mistakes and minor flaws in every film the see Sit back, let go, relax a little, and most of all, stop whining! It's probably the best advice I've received in a long time. The book is broken down into chapters covering each common film-goer complaint individually. While I agreed with his defense in some chapters, like "The special effects looked fake," and disagreed with others, such as "They could've shaved off half an hour and it would've been perfect" (*cough* Magnolia! *cough*), they all not only entertained, but add a level of rationalism and humility to critical film response. That's right, Dr. Sarcofiguy loves films, and he's not just going to stand around and watch you kick them around for your own amusement!
The subject is interesting and the choice of movies is amusing. But O. M. G. the writing! Since I don't know how books are scanned or typed into the system, I don't know who to blame. Someone has a very weak grip on English grammar. Every single time there is a plural, it's made with an apostrophe before the "s". "Your" is replaced with "you're". It is so bad, it interfered with my enjoyment of the book. It is comparable to having someone regularly blast an airhorn when someone else is listening to a piece of good music. We have enough trouble with getting people to use correct English. The author of even an amusing book like this one has a responsibility not to deface the written word. If it was an editor or a proofreader who committed these horrible mistakes, that person should go back to school.
